ABOUT THIS LISTING
This is one of several wonderful styles in wool that I found, nosing around a mill in the Cotswold region of England. 'Cotswold View' is a lovely light-medium weight twill in a window pane pattern. The ground is comprised of threads in heathery greens and golds, with a dull burnt orange stripe creating the window pane. Repeat runs every 2+". Strips will be about 17" X 3".
If you wonder about the 'extremely high' prices of these UK textiles (comparatively speaking, to the rest of the strips), the reason is that they ran anywhere from $40-60 per yard to buy! But selling them in small pieces allows everyone to afford to use some of this lovely wool.
ABOUT TEXTURES
Textures behave in a variety of ways, depending upon the weave, and of course there is much more variety in style and weave, compared to the hand dyed wool, which is all dyed over a 2/1 twill, a pretty consistent weave from bolt to bolt. Textures also shrink at dramatically different rates, which are hard to predict, so while I will always strive for a 3" X 18" strip, sometimes it will vary a bit in length -- may be 16 1/2" to 19", although 3" X !8" is the nominal size I am selling. All textures have been pre-fulled and are ready for use.
HAVE A QUESTION?
If you are here for the first time, I would encourage you to check out the FAQ section at the top of your screen and the 'About' section at the bottom. All common questions about how the "strips" work, ordering larger pieces, color organization, shipping, payment methods, exchanges, accuracy of the graphics, and others, are answered in these areas.
Please see the home page for announcements, updates on the development of new wool colors and products, and information about vacations.
THE CHALLENGE OF CHOOSING COLORS ONLINE
In general, use the INDIVIDUAL color image as your guide. I have devoted many hours to adjusting the images to match the actual wool color, but this is no guarantee of accuracy on your monitor, especially laptop monitors. These will not display the colors of the wool properly -- a desktop monitor is a better choice for shopping.
